With age, people go crazy and somewhat bitter. Well, working at the Rexall on Jasper Ave, and having a lot of seniors buildings around, I encounter many old people in a day at work. At the Rexall, we have a 10% discount for seniors 55 and over, why i have no idea because it causes more problems than anything else. Well today, I had an elderly gentleman come into the store. He came to my till with the Journal and some canned salmon. So i rang his stuff in and then gave him the 10% discount. Our discount only applys to selected items, newspapers is not one of them. After i was all done with him i starting helping another person, and he rudely interupts and starts going on about how I didn't give him his discount on the paper. Well, I tried to explain to him that, he doesn't receive it on that, and he goes practically apeshit. This man starts yelling at me, going on about how today every business just trys to steal the money of old people and the people who work really hard to earn it. I calmly tell him that, newspapers isn't one of the items he receives it on. Then he demands me to go and get the manager. So i call my boss up to the front. He talks to the gentleman and this guy just wont give up. He is so mad because this freaking $1.00 newspaper doesn't get a discount. So, Ron, my boss just says whatever and gives the guy the .10 cents that the discount would have got him. After the guys leaves, we start talking and...OMG. This guy freaked out over 10cents. Its unreal, old people would do anything to save a freaking penny. It really pissed me off. This guy, yelling at me for 10cents. Get over it and forget about the 10 cents. There are many things more important than money. Like being sane and enjoying the things that you can spend your money on while your still alive. Forget the 10cents and move on buddy, its not the end of the world...you might still have a few years left if ya didn't stress out over a few pennies.
